Andrew Henderson, born in London (1930 - ), has lived and worked in Wales for 30 years. Following a lifelong interest in the calligraphic freedom of watercolour (exhibiting in the 50s and 60s with the New English Art Club and the Royal West of England Academy), he has been an active member of the Lydgate Art Research Centre led by Robin Child in recent years (exhibiting regularly, with personal shows locally and in London, and represented in a number of private collections). He faces the challenging disciplines and guiding principles of art that have to be recognised and assimilated, influenced particularly by the 20th century painters Cézanne, Ivon Hitchens, Keith Vaughan, Bomberg, de Stael, Diebenkorn. He is intrigued by fundamental similarities between the processes of basic science and original art – much the more difficult of the two!
