Carol Davis began her art career in South Africa, where she was born. Early on she tried to capture the light and colour of the spectacular landscapes of the Cape. Later on, the watery light of Maine, where she has a home, became a theme of her paintings.

She moved to the UK where she studied extensively with Robin Child, at Lydgate, Devizes.  With his guidance, she became fascinated with art of the 20th Century, both American and European and latterly, specifically, contemporary British art. Her work is largely abstract or semi abstract.

In 2005, she was influential in the inauguration of the Rosvik Gallery.

She has exhibited in South Africa, London, Wiltshire and Maine.
