Dafila Scott - After training as a zoologist, Dafila Scott turned to drawing and painting, and is extremely grateful for the inspirational teaching of Robin Child at the Lydgate Art Research Centre, UK. Most of her work is inspired by wildlife and landscape and arises from a combination of field sketches, memory and translation.

Working mostly in oils, acrylics and pastels, she has exhibited widely in the UK. Recent work includes both figurative and abstract paintings of wildlife and landscape inspired by the fenland surrounding her home and also by visits to Wales and South Africa.

"Often the inspiration for a painting will be an unexpected colour seen in nature, and the challenge is to translate this in paint. How to play one colour against another, juxtaposing similar or opposing hues is a constant puzzle and always exciting."
