Georgina Fellows - "It is difficult to analyse from where one comes. Initially what appealed to me was capturing the spirit of the landscape or the movement of a person and translating the images onto a canvas."
During her intensive study of other artists, who she has found inspirational, Georgina has had to develop her own style, which is abstracted from landscape, figure or still life. For her, abstract work has to have a starting point in the real world.
She works by making a quick sketch that creates the atmosphere. A few lines will help her to capture the image and atmosphere from which to develop the work. She has to feel strongly and excited about the image she is painting – without passion it is dull. She is a fierce self-critic, and often suffers from self-doubt, but her paintings amaze her with their boldness and colour. "My heart is a bigger personality than I am", said Thomas Vanek, a painter from Prague. She has to agree.
When she began painting classes, she always found the paper too small. She wants her paintings to have excitement and energy, so that they resonate beyond the confines of the canvas. She would like them to provide space, space open for the viewer to explore and investigate.
"I look forward to continuing this adventure."
