'Window Reflections No 1'

Margaret King was born in Zimbabwe and studied Art at Rhodes University, South Africa. Margaret had a career in the fashion world in London. She studied Botanical Art at The Chelsea Physic Garden, London and went on to explore 20th century art with Robin Child at his Art Research Centre. She did a year’s Foundation course in sculpture to help her to understand form.

She relishes the excitement of texture and the freedom of her expressive art and this is built on a firm foundation of understanding structure and colour.

Her botanical work is in The Chelsea Physic Garden archives, Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation and at the Carnegie University, Pittsburgh.

Margaret’s botanical work has also been selected for inclusion in The Highgrove Florilegium. This is presently being created under the umbrella of The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation and will celebrate and record in a permanent way the Flora in the garden at Highgrove.

Her work is in private collections in the UK, South Africa, Zimbabwe, the USA and Germany. She has exhibited in London at the Hunt Institute, Pittsburgh and in Germany. The majority of her work is done on commission.
