Paddy Jones was born and brought up on a farm in Zimbabwe. She moved to the UK in 1959 to train as an occupational therapist. She studied Fine Art & Design at Amersham Art College (1987-90), and later studied with Robin Child in Wedhampton, Wiltshire.

Since College she has exhibited regularly both on her own and with fellow artists. Recent exhibitions have been in Hungerford, Winchester, Henley, Chesham, Buckinghamshire and London.

Her representational paintings may be of still life, landscape or figure. Although the images are immediately recognisable it is not their accuracy that interests her, but their qualities of paint, colour and space. Her abstract paintings are inspired often by the landscape. At other times she simply gets on with the business of painting and making marks. The destination emerges as she is absorbed in the act of balancing the structure, the mark, the colour, the spaces, the contrasts and the tones.
