'Found City'

Peter Clarke took up painting seriously on retirement, and trained at the Lydgate Art Research Centre under Robin Child. He is an Exhibiting Member of Farnham Art Society, and won the Joe Acheson Award for Watercolour & Gouache (2003), the James Hockey Award for Drawing (2002) and Highly Commended for Painting (1998).

He has exhibited at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London (2007, 2000 & 1999), and at The Mall Galleries, London, under the umbrella of the FBA, with pictures hung by The Pastel Society (1999), NEAC (1998 & 1996) and the RBA (1996).  He has also exhibited with the Armed Forces Art Society at the Mall Galleries, (2007, 2006 & 2005) with work Highly Commended, and in 2006 elected a Full Member of the Society (AFAS). He exhibited at Rosvikgallery (2005) and held successful solo exhibitions at his own studio whilst taking part in Surrey Artists Open Studios Weeks (2004 & 2003) and at The Guildford Institute (2003).

His work, represented in several private collections, is influenced by studies of the great 20th Century Masters, from Cézanne onwards.
