Peter Lavender is a semi-retired doctor with a lifelong interest in painting, limited during professional life to small-scale landscapes but subsequently broadening to involve partially abstract landscapes and interiors in oil. Like most painters of the 21st Century, the concern is to create a formal structure and texture, but this needs to have a resonance with the material world of landscape, still life and figures, whilst still working as a painting.

Exhibitions include Edith Grove Gallery, London; London Sketch Club; Medical Art Society ( 1st Prize 2001,2002,2003,); Carlyle Gallery, Chelsea; Burlington Fine Art, London; Open Art In The South; Rosvikgallery, Marlborough; Vivartis, Witley and The Red Biddy Gallery, Godalming.
