Val Pitchford has always worked in design, and during recent years has moved into full time painting. Her studio and mini gallery are on the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. Her work is mainly abstract, with an inclination towards landscape. Her favourite medium is oil on canvas. A sense of spontaneity and freshness is striven for, whilst bearing in mind the succinct observation by Matisse: "What I dream of is an art of balance."

Painting from time to time with other members of Rosvik Collective provides a time of intensive study. The exchange of ideas and constructive criticisms is immensely rewarding.

A recent Cork Street Exhibition was well received. Val's work is shown mainly in London and Cotswold Galleries. As well as in this country, it is found in American and continental private collections.
